Imagine, if you will, world where a simple man wants little more than a chance to go chase and scare trout for a few hours. The winter and "life" has blocked him from his favorite hobby since November. Then a miracle occurs: family permission is given for him to take a weekend and go do that voodoo that he do (not so good.)
A dream come true. Right?
Here I am, free to drive anywhere I want for the weekend, and I'm pretty much paralyzed. Anxiety. Do I just go back to one of the few places I already know? What if the streams are all murky from the recent snow and melt? Do I try something new in Minnesota? Should I finally get a Wisconsin license and try finding something around Viroqua and Westby? Should I even bother?
Please tell me this sounds crazy.
You should go to Wisconsin and check out the Kinni or the Rush. Both have been fishing well from what I hear.
ReplyDeleteI'd thought about finally trying the Kinni this weekend, but I figure with the filmfest in River Falls tomorrow night the Kinni is gonna be busy on Saturday. The Rush is a good candidate right now. Thanks, Eddie, as always.
DeletePick a water that reports fishable and go. The worst thing thst can happen is you catch no fish. But you will still ba standing in water.
ReplyDeleteGot it: get my feet in the water. Get my feet in the water...
DeleteStop and visit as many streams as possible. Everything in the Preston area is high and off color. If you go to the Caledonia area, everything is clear. It really depends on what you're fishing. There's been a lot of pressure almost everywhere, it'll be difficult . Keep at it!
ReplyDeleteRyan - I appreciate you dropping by. I'm a big fan. ;)
DeleteThanks for the info on the Preston area waters. My SE MN fishing has historically centered around the Forestville state park area. I will likely hunt elsewhere.
Hang in there buddy. Can't go wrong spending a day on the stream, or even driving around looking for clear water if need be. Remember those coping skills and have at 'er!
ReplyDeleteYes... coping skills. CBT. Stand behind the waterfall and observe yourself and the world around you.
DeleteMay I refer you to the List of Daily Affirmations, Item #7:
I can change any thought that hurts into a reality that hurts even more.
:)
Ok. You're crazy. 😊
ReplyDeleteComing from you, that's a compliment. I accept!
