The Cliffs of Insanity!

Otherwise known as "cabin fever."  It can drive a man to do strange and terrible things...

Even worse, it not just the Little Voices® talking to me these days.  Now I can hear my fly rods whispering to me from across the room as I fall asleep at night!

PS - Thanks for the shirt, Howard!

  1. Hi, Chris. Hope you are getting into 2017 with a fly rod in hand and an eye on some open water........

You know what, I only live about (20) miles or so from Howard and my shirt has not came yet! What do you suppose is up with that?

    1. I bet if you were to come along the next time we try tossing some flies at trout, he might bring one along for you... ;)

  3. Hang in there Chris. Stay away from the cliffs and if you find yourself having a conversation with your fly rods, book a trip to the Caribbean asap!

    1. Drew - I started wondering the other day how soon I could get into Yellowstone. You know, toss flies at trout, dodge bison, find cliffs, swim in hot pools...

  4. I enjoy your blog immensely and read silently without responding most of the time. But in this case - I have to chime in and say Hip Hip Hooray! I cannot agree more.

I just sent an email to a some cousins a day ago and told them that I wish I could move to SW Wyoming/Colorado/Eastern Utah NOW instead of when I retire because the lack of sun in Indiana for several months a year is such a bummer. (Not to mention the trout situation here isn't much to shout about)

I even told them I ask God at least once a day in prayer for deliverance from this "darkness" that is Indiana but I suspect God hears it as whining so he remains silent on this. Of course it could be due to the scripture "The prayers of a righteous man availeth much." I am pretty much disqualified right there :)

    Thanks and keep up hope!

    1. Joseph (Jay?) - Like you, I miss the western trout waters, having grown up in Wyoming and then lived in Montana for 7 years. I'm slightly better off than you, but the 3 hour drive down to SE Minnesota to visit the Driftless Area's trout streams stills requires an investment of time. Lately, timing has been bad: when I can go, it's below freezing (guides ice up and angling time is limited), yet when I'm booked, the weather seems to be ideal for winter angling. AAAARG!

    1. Normally, Mrs. Fading Angler would be in total support of having someone whack me on the head. But if I end up getting my head rewired, she might frown on it no matter how well-deserved the head-whack might be. She'd like to keep the number of neurosurgeries to a minimum. I'm worth far more financially alive...
