Into Dark Territory

At long last, I'm headed into a place with no cell service and no readily-available WiFi.  We drove out the East Entrace of Yellowstone a couple of hours ago and are now headed up to the North Tongue River in the Big Horn mountains.  With any luck, I might get schooled by the great Eddie Rivard tomorrow morning, as we are coincidentally both vacationing in the same area at the same time.

Should be back in reach of the digital universe Sunday night.  Set your VCR, don't miss an episode!

  1. I was gonna hit you up to maybe do some fishin' on Sunday but I guess not! Have fun and show Eddie how it's done.

    1. Well, I did have ONE good momemt. Eddie had just finished wading through a hole to retrieve a snag, then moved upstream. We were using different flies, so I drifted on through that hole and WHAM!. Three or four larger fish started chasing the one I just set up on.

"Hey, Eddie, there are some pretty big fish in this hole you just walked away from!"

      "WHAT!?"

I have zero chance of making it down your way over the next 2 weekends, but I'll be down at Maple Springs campground outside Forestville State Park for Labor Day weekend, perhaps starting Thursday evening. Let's see what we can cook up if you're not working or on call...

  2. Well one thing I know for sure is if you hang out with Eddie you'll have a good time whether you catch fish or not.

    1. A good time was had, though he had me on a forced march downstream that involved going uphill! We were also being eyeballed by cattle as if WE were on the menu. I was introduced to Eddie's brother and father, who were also angling on the North Tongue River. An interesting experience. More details after Eddie gets back into civilization and photos are gathered.
